Individual Excellence in Civil Construction Celebrated in CCF NSW People Awards

New South Wales’ peak representative body for employers in the civil construction and maintenance industry, the Civil Contractors Federation NSW, celebrated personal excellence of its Members at its annual People Awards on Friday night.

The CCF NSW People Awards, part of the President’s Gala Ball and held this year at Sydney’s Fullerton Hotel, was draped with a Game of Thrones theme.

In total 13 awards were presented across categories recognising outstanding individuals within the CCF NSW family of Members.

Reflecting the importance all roles have in the civil construction industry, the CCF NSW awards cover the spectrum of roles including administration, site hands, plant operators, and safety officers, site supervisors, engineers and project managers. Supporting diversity of our industry, awards for Women in Civil and Aboriginal Employee of the year are also given.

CCF NSW Chief Executive David Castledine said he was again very impressed with the high levels of individual excellence on display in an industry that is the engine of the NSW economy.

“All the finalists in our People Awards tonight exemplify the high calibre of teams in our Membership, and they are a wonderful reflection on the professionalism of their employers,” Mr Castledine said.

For the first time the CCF NSW President’s Award was awarded to two people, Gladys and Colin Woods, of Sutherland-based Haslin Constructions.

CCF NSW President Michael Fitzgerald paid tribute to Mr and Mrs Woods’ long-time service to the CCF NSW and their strong support of CCF NSW Mission and programs.

“Each year, CCF NSW recognises with this Award a person employed by a CCF NSW Member who has displayed extraordinary support of CCF NSW and the values we espouse,” Mr Fitzgerald said. “This year we’ve broken with tradition and awarded it to a husband and wife team. Gladys and Colin have given great service over many years and both heartily deserve this accolade.”
